Call for proposals 
Purpose The SW-MCPDP Zonal Implementation Committee is announcing a small research grants for nurses in Southwest Nigeria. The Committee will adopt a flexible mechanism to provide support to nurses in the south-west Nigeria to address significant research challenges in area of nursing education, practice and administration. Applicants are expected to apply for research activities that can be completed within a period of 1 year. Counterpart funding may be sourced for by the applicants. 
 
Research funding Funds for this grant are provided solely by the South-west Zonal Office of the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme 
 
Eligibility criteria:  
. Applicant must have attended at least one MCPDP programme in the southwest Nigeria 
. Applicant must reside and work in Southwest Nigeria 
. A collaborative research is encouraged 
. Grant will be awarded based on evidence of previous scholarly activities by at least one of the researchers. 
. Students who are applying must show evidence of active studentship and support of supervisor. 
. Non students should show evidence of current place of work.  
. All applicants must have a current licence with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria  
. There must be an evidence of ethical approval for the study or processing of ethical approval.

Grants available:
Twelve (12) per year and will be spread across the 6 states in the Southwest geopolitical zones 
 
Funding:
Between N100, 000.00 – 200,000 per awardee 
 
Deadline for Submission of Proposal:    
February 15th, 2018 
 
Duration of Study:                                   
1st March, 2018 - 31st September, 2019.  
 
Report:
A report of the research conduct to be submitted between October & December, 31st 2018

How to apply:  
. A clearly written application letter summarising what the applicant intent to do, its relevance to nursing and possible contribution to knowledge 
. A clearly written proposal must be submitted within four weeks of advertisement 
. Proposal can be written to follow the guidelines stated below and should not be more than 5 pages: 
- Background 
- Statement of the problem 
- Research questions/objectives 
- Methods: design, settings, subjects, instruments, ethical issues. 
- Information on possible contribution to nursing knowledge 
- Provide a budget summary of what the fund will be used for. 
. Proposal must be submitted along with the applicant’s (Principal Investigator) Curriculum Vitae 
. Attach a copy of  any of the previous MCPDP certificate of attendance

After grant award: 
. Research awardees will be monitored by the State facilitator for update on the research process 
. Research report should be published in a reputable nursing journal and evidence sent to SWMCPDP zonal office by email: [email protected]
