NYSC: Warning on Presentation of Fake Medical Reports by Corps Members Seeking Concessional Deployment and Relocation

Posted on: Mon 14-07-2014

The management of the national Youth service corps (NYSC) has noticed the disturbing trend among prospective corps members who submit fake medical reports at the orientation camps to back up claims of ill health as grounds of application for relocation to other states

This ugly trend was discovered in a recent check carried out by the scheme on the medical papers submitted by some corps members of 2014 batch "A". The scheme views this practise as a serious misconduct and all the corps members involved will be sanctioned accordingly.

All prospective corps members and the general public are to note theat management has initiated a fool proof procedure for verificatio of medical documents with the authorities of the issuing/originating health institutions. Management also wishes to remind prospective corps members as well as their parents and guardians that presentation of fake documents is a criminal offence; and henceforth anyone caught will be handed over to the police for prosecution.

In addition, management also seizes this opportunity to warn prospective corps  members, parents and other unsuspecting members of the public against patronising fraudsters who request for payment of various amount of money for concessional deployment/ relocation of graudates/ corps members to their state of choice. Please note that no participant in national service is expected to pay money for either concessional deployment or relocation.

Furthermore, the NYSC is also worried about the way it is inundated with requests for concessional deployemnt to preferred states. Such requests negate the deployemnt policy as stipulated in the NYSC Act. Parents/guardians are hereby reminded that posting of prospective corps members to locations other than their states of origin or geographical zones in particular is a deliberte policy enunciated in the NYSC Act to actualize the scheme's objective of fostering national integration.

Parents and guardians are therefore, urged to encourage their wards to accept posting to any locatin in good faith; and be ready to serve with patriotic zeal. Stakeholders should please note that henceforth, the deployment policy of posting prospective corps members to states/ geographical zones other than their own shall be strictly implemented by the scheme
