The Women Friendly initiative (WFI), a non-governmental organization, in Kuje area council, of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), says it has trained no fewer 

than sixteen midwives from Midwifery service Scheme (MSS) and about sixteen private nurse/ midwives, on basic family planning and post abortion care

According to the senior programme officer of the organization, Mrs. Frances Teshoma, who disclosed this, said the training was carried out four days, in partnership Health care development Agency (NPHCDA), with support from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

In an interview with Peoples Daily, at the weekend in Kuje, she said that the purpose of the four Day workshop; was to reduce unsafe abortion in the society 

She added that the event was also aimed  at strengthening community support for increased access and utilization of family planning as well as post abortion care. She further noted that it was to strengthen public-private referral linkages for integrated post abortion care as well as family planning/HIV information and services She explained that the MSS midwives and Nurses/Midwives were drawn from all the primary health care facilities as well as private clinics across the six area council of the FCTAccording to her, the management of the organization would continue to improve te health and wellbeing of women, children and adolescent as well as youth in the society Teshoma, however, said the leadership of the organization would be geared towards checkmate the activities of nurses/midwives every month at their various clinics, in order to achieve the targeted objectives.
