The team of Medical Practitioners and health personnel from the Lagos state Ministry of Healt, provided free medical care to over 2,000 patients some of which presented with High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and other non-communicable diseases, NCDs.
Accessing the free health care at the outreach programme put together by the Lagos State Government, Dr. Toluwa Ajomale of the Special Project Unit of Lagos state Ministry of Health, said the purpose of the Eko Health M ission was to bridge the gap between the people living in the city and rural communities. The cost of the threeday programme was bore by the Lagos State Government, he added.
Among services at the outreach are medical consultation and treatment of common ailments including Hypertension screening, Diabetes, Eye screening, Dental care, Family Planning services, Ante-natal care services and HIV/AIDS counseling. Ajomale said the mission was to offer free medical services to the residents of Epe and the idea was to improve the health of Lagos residents.

“We are also trying to create awareness on the health centres that are available in the Local Council Development Authority (LCDA) and Local Government so that people can take advantage of them. That will reduce the number of people that are going to the general hospitals. We have more people visiting our health centres utilising the services that are available presently.
