SPECIAL REPORT ON AUTISM
April is celebrated worldwide as Autism Awareness Month \. Autism Spectrum Disorder, ASD, is a condition that affects the social, emotional, and behavioural development of childern. Various studies give the incidence of Autism from between 1-54 and 1-100 children. The UN has sounded that there is an increase in the prevalence of Autism. While its causes are yet to be determined and cures are yet unknown, it is now widely acknowledged that with early intervention and proper care, children with autism can fulfil their potential and live normal lives In recognition of the need to continue to create platforms for sharing available knowledge and information on intervention strategies and coping skills amongst thereapists, care givers and family members, Parents against Autism Initiative, PAAI, an NGO set up by concened parents to advocate for children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and to provide information and other relevant resources to their families and care givers, in conjunction with PUNCH, Nigeria's best circulating newspaper, is packaging a special pullout supplement on Autism tagged, Living with Autism, Families Share Experience to feature on World Autism Awareness Day, Wednesday April 2, 2014
