BENIN CITY—THE Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, PSN, has admonished the Federal Government to take a holistic step in tackling the crisis in the nation’s health sector rather than embarking on what it described as ”divide and rule tactics” which has always led to strike action by the different unions in the sector.
They argued that doctors, nurses, laboratory scientists and other health workers are all vital to the survival of the health sector, warning against any attempt to make one look inferior to the other.
However, a recipient of the PSN merit award, Chris Iyare, commended the federal and state governments efforts at checking the spread of the dreaded Ebola virus, saying that this effort must be replicated in other areas as regards the health sector for the interest of Nigerians.
Speaking at the 2014 annual pharmacy week of the Edo State chapter of PSN, in his key note address, Dr Omeh Onuche lamented that the activities of pharmacists in hospitals and other health care delivery facilities were not being documented, warning that the situation was dangerous for the health sector.
