Resident doctors remain uncertain about their work status following the suspension of the residency training programme.
This is despite assurances by the parent Nigerian Medical Association to continue negotiations with the government.
But the minister of health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, yesterday said that the NMA was yet to officially notify him of the suspension of the strike.
He told journalists that the programme remained suspended pending when the residency training would be reorganized.
Patients approached hospitals Tuesday on hearing the strike had ended but were left uncertain what doctors to see.
“We heard doctors were told to start work yesterday [Monday] after such a long time. That’s why we came,” said one Raymond Ihele at the National Hospital Abuja.
