The National Officers committee of the Nigerian Medical Association held its Meeting on 18th January 2016. According to a memo from the association obtained by a Medicalworld Nigeria correspondent, the committee adopted the following resolutions:

OSHOGBO: The National officers committee (NOC) made direct contact with doctors at osun state and noted with displeasure that despite the intervention of the Nigerian Medical Associations president, the status quo remains, which is that the matter is in court

BUDGET: The National Officers Committee of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) noted with dismay that the budget allocation for health falls short of the abuja declaration of 15percent. The NMA admonishes an upward review of the budget on health to meet at least the minimum 15percent particularly at this point in our history when we are faced with ripples of epidemics (Lassa fever, Ebola and IDPs) and other health related issues.

COMMUNITY BASED HEALTH INSURANCE: The National Officers Committee took note of the launching of the official flag off of Ayedun community based social health insurance programme (ACB-SHIP) which took place on friday 15th of January 2016 and highly commend the pioneer of the project our centenary president, Dr. Kayode Obembe. This innovation is highly commendable. The NOC recommends that this gesture be replicated in the other parts of the country as we think that this is the way to go.

PRESIDENT: Dr. Kayode obembe
SECRETARY GENERAL: Dr Adewunmi Alayaki
