Johannesburg - South African nurses have expressed solidarity with the families of the schoolgirls recently abducted in Chibok, Borno State by members of the Boko Haram sect.
The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) said it felt the pain that Nigerian parents of the more than 200 girls felt and therefore supported the #BringBackOurGirls campaign.
It condemned the abduction.
“DENOSA deems this act as contrary to African values of Ubuntu, where children are looked after by the whole village and not only by biological parents. This is the opportune time for African nations to unite as one of the continent’s core values is being undermined,” Sibongiseni Delihlazo, DENOSA Communication Manager, stated
“Keeping quiet when more than 200 innocent school girls are kidnapped is equal to approving of this act and marks the beginning of the decay of the values that have characterised the African continent for a long time as the cradle of humankind.”
