SALARY:    OR – Ordinarily Resident–N10,948,692.00 p.a.
(Starting basic salary) Position Grade: FSN-11

The U.S. Embassy in Abuja is seeking to employ suitable and qualified candidate for the position of Senior Program Specialist, Laboratory Services (Full Performance) in the Department of Defense Walter Reed Program-Nigeria (DOD-WRPN).

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The incumbent will provide technical guidance in the development and maintenance of quality laboratory services at the Nigeria Military hospitals/facilities to serve HIV/AIDS/TB/Malaria patients in the Nigerian Military and surrounding communities consistent with the principles of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). S/he will assist in the development of annual laboratory work plan and implementation, and support the establishment of a robust and sustainable Quality Assurance program in all the Nigerian Military PEPFAR supported ART sites.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

NOTE: All applicants MUST address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each criterion or the application will not be considered.

  • Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science and postgraduate degree in Public Health is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in HIV/AIDS laboratory practices and program implementation with extensive experience in supervision of laboratory staff is required.
  • 3. Level IV (Good working knowledge) Speaking /Reading/Writing in English is required.  Language proficiency will be tested.
  • Knowledge of major issues effecting Laboratory services in Nigeria especially in diagnosis of TB, HIV and Malaria, as well as concepts, principles, techniques, and practices of Government of Nigeria (GoN) policies and programs in the sector is required.
  • Ability to work effectively with mid and senior level public and military officers from Government of Nigeria (GoN) and Nigeria Ministry of Defense (NMOD) is required.
  • Must have excellent writing and computer skills with the ability to travel within Nigeria 25% of time.
