Communique Issued at the End of a Two-Day Meeting of Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI), Teaching/Specialist Hospitals/Federal Medical Centres Sector Held on 18th and 19th of March, 2015, at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile-Ife, Osun State

The Council after the meeting resolves as follows:

PRESIDENTIAL INTERVENTION ON JOINT HEALTH SECTOR UNION JOHESU) DEMANDS
The Council notes the intervention of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) in resolving the issues that led to industrial strike action. We therefore remain hopeful and call on Mr. President to fulfill his promise and attend to all the issues to ensure immediate resolutions with favourable outcomes.

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA (FGN) POLICY ON REMITTANCE OF INTERNALLY GENERATED REVENUE (IGR) TO THE TREASURY SINGLE ACCOUNT (TSA) OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA (CBN).
Council observes that the Treasury Single Account (TSA) is a part of public Financial Management reforms of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with a lot of benefits, but may not be totally beneficial to the Health institutions and the hospitals in general due to the peculiarity of their operations. Council is of the view that the FGN regulation on IGR should not be hastily applied in the helth sector without carrying along the stakeholders in the health sector so as not to disrupt services in our health industry.

2015 GENERAL ELECTIONS
Council reiterates that all political actors in the coming elections should conduct themselves in a manner as to achieving peaceful, credible, free and fair elections by putting the nation above personal interest.

THE NEW NIGERIA LABOUR CONGRESS (NLC) LEADERSHIP
Council congratulates the newly elected leadership of NLC, particularly Comrade (Dr) Wabba Ayuba, Comrade Peter Adeyemi, and Comrade Lawal Hussain Dutsinma, on their successes at the just conducted election.
