TRAINING COURSE ON  COUNSELLING FOR SICKLE CELL DISORDER

ANNOUNCEMENT

 The Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria in collaboration with the MTN Nigeria Foundation is pleased to announce the Training Course on Counselling for Sickle Cell Disorder

Course Objective

To convert health care workers into knowledgeable and competent genetic counselors on sickle cell disorders, so that they can assist their clients in the following ways:

. To understand the medical facts, diagnosis, available tratment and probable cause of the disorder 

. To appreciate the mode of inheritence of the disorder and the risk of occurrence in relatives

. To understand the options available for dealing with the risk of occurrence

.  To choose and appropriate course of action, in view of the and family goals

. To make the best possible adjustment to the disorder and/or the risk of occurrence

 

For Whom -Health Care Workers

Dates - October 12 - 24, 2014

Venue: National Sickle Cell Centre, Ishaga Road, Idi-Araba, Lagos

Course Fee:- N65,000.00 (Sixty Five Thousand naita Only).

This subsidized fee covers only the course materials and lunch. Participants will have to make arrangements for their accomodation. The Sickle Cell Foundation will send a list of nearby hotels/Guest Houses on request. The nature of the training dictates that not more than 30 participants will be accepted. Therefore, only applicants who receive our letter of invitation should attend.
