Position Summary
Futures Group is recruiting for an experienced Technical Director in Nigeria to work on a new programme to support the Nigerian Ministry of Health (MOH) for the successful launch and implementation of the costed implementation plan for family planning. The Technical Director will provide technical leadership and coordination between all activities within the contract, and provide continuity with Plan development and implementation. This is a full-time position based in Abuja, Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical and strategic guidance
• Facilitate initial relationships with key stakeholders (including the FMOH and SMOHs) that will enable the project to have a rapid start up.
• Draft and edit major sections of the Costed Implementation Plan documents and tools
• Draft and edit budgets for Costed Implementation Plans using MS Excel templates
• Prepare PowerPoint presentations, background reference briefing materials for internal stakeholders (e.g. country Technical • Working Group on Family Planning), and research briefings (e.g. to address specific technical questions on FP/RH)
• Gather data on the costs of various family planning/reproductive health program and service delivery interventions
• Prepare for and attend Technical Working Group meetings and stakeholder interviews
• Other related technical tasks as required
Qualifications
• Graduate level degree (MA, MPH) in International Health, Public Health, Development or related program (coursework in Family Planning/ Reproductive Health/ Population Studies is preferred)
• At least 5 years of relevant experience
• Excellent judgment, conceptual and analytical thinking ability
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Strong skills in MS Word and complex MS Excel documents
• Background in family planning policy and services and the broader health system in Nigeria
• Experience in strategic planning and budgeting, preferably for government health services
• Good diplomatic skills and experience interacting with Government of Nigeria agencies at federal and regional levels, development partners, and civil society organizations
• Excellent written and spoken English is required
• Local language capabilities are an advantage
• Nigerian nationals strongly encouraged to apply
