BENIN—THE authorities of University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, are to partner Health, Education, Work and Shelters, HEWS, Foundation, in providing free surgery for people suffering from jaw tumours in the next three years.
Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Prof. Michael Ibadin, who disclosed this in Benin City, said the partnership with the Foundation may also be extended after the first three years to ensure that all those suffering any form of jaw disorder benefited from the gesture.
Ibadin, represented by Prof. Oza Obuekwe on the occasion, explained that the partnership will allow HEWS foundation to pay the sum of N100,000 on every patient while the hospital will foot the extra cost and services which may arise from the treatment.
“The foundation is expected to pay N100,000 only as entire cost of treatment for each patient and as counterpart funding, UBTH shall provide the extra cost and services which include doctors, nursing care, theatre and others that may arise in the course of treatment,” he said.
