IBADAN - Prof. Temitope Alonge, the Chief Medical Director of University College Hospital(UCH), Ibadan, said that the tertiary health institution would soon begin community physiotherapy.
Alonge disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Ibadan.
He said the hospital had always been breaking new grounds in healthcare delivery, recalling that it was the first to start community ophthalmology outreaches.
Alonge also said that the UCH Community Primary Health Care Centre recently inaugurated at Sepeteri community in the state would go a long way in solving the health care challenges in the area.
He further said that public health nursing had been popularised and entrenched in community healthcare delivery system, adding that it is now the only linkage between communities and hospitals.
Alonge, who also said gender-based violence had become a public health concern world-wide, urged the global community to move against the menace.
The CMD described the strike embarked on by the Nigeria Medical Association as a “ national issue, ’’ adding that other members of the health care delivery team were doing their best to alleviate the inconvenience to patients.
