Medical Vacancies for Senior Logistics Advisor, HIV/AIDS

The Senior Logistics Advisor (Sokoto) will provide hands-on strategic guidance to the HIV/AIDS supply chain unification technical assistance to the State Ministry of Health (SMOH) in assigned states, PEPFAR implementing partners, Global Fund-supported partners, health facilities and other stakeholders in a defined locations as appropriate. The Senior Logistics Advisor will lead a team of advisors working with him/her and support in the management of the other organizations that will provide support services in logistiCS management information system, warehousing and distribution to the SCMS Project in support of the unification project and report to the Associate Director HIV/AIDS. 
 
Specific Tasks include: 
1. Provide supply chain technical leadership in the implementation of the HIV/AIDS supply chain unification project in the selected states. 
2. Liaise with state ministry of health leadership in the selected states to provide supply chain capacity building activities in the state to relevant officials. 
3. Work with state ministry of health to develop a support plan that will enable the appropriate overnment structure within the state take ownership of managing part of the supply chain 
activities in the state. 
4. Lead a team of logistics advisors to provide supply chain support and mentoring to health facility staff in conjunction with the ministry of health. 
5. Lead the establishment and implementation of regional technical working group that will support and monitor the activities of the unification project. 
6. Serve as the link between the state ministry of health, implementing partners and other stakeholders involved in the unification project to timely provide appropriate feedback on the progress on the project. 
7. Support the activities of warehouse & distribution service providers to troubleshoot and 
address supply chain issues that will impact commodities availability before, during and 
after distribution of commodities. 
8. Coordinate the linkage between the health facilities, warehouse and distribution service 
providers to ensure prompt delivery of commodities for service delivery 
9. Organize and lead monitoring and supportive visit to health facilities within the assigned 
states to support capacity transfer to appropriate health facility staff to efficient management 
of supply chain activities at the facility level 
10. Facilitate the process of logistic information management system gathering periodically in conjunction with appropriate state officials to support timely health commodities distribution 
to facilities 
11. Support the process of proof of delivery gathering, review and sharing with relevant stakeholders in the state to validate the supply of health commodities to the facility 
12. Participate in supply chain assessment and other relevant studies to monitor implementation of the unification exercise 
13. Collaborate with other JSI project staff in the States to support supply chain activities and relationship with the State officials and relevant stakeholders 
14. Attend relevant supply chain meeting within the states and make presentations as required 
15. Support in overseeing the day to day operations of warehousing and distribution service providers that will support the health supply chain to ensure efficient implementation of the 
terms of the contracts and provide the needed reports on performance. 
16. Work with the Abuja office to develop and review work plan for the supply chain activities in support of Government and partners in the project 
17. Provide monthly feedback and reports to the central level on the activities in the pilot region to inform strategic direction in the expansion of the pilot project. 
18. Contribute to identifying best practices and success stories for JSI Nigeria's quarterly logistics bulletin. 
19. Contribute to routine monthly, quarterly and annual reports for submission to program funders. 
20. Any other duties as assigned. 
 
Skills/Knowledge Required: 
Applicants for this position should possess the following minimum qualifications: 
. A Master's Degree in Pharmacy, Public Health, Laboratory science, Logistics Management or 
Business Administration 
. Seven to ten years of professional experience in health programs, preferably in an international 
health care sopplychain management environment 
. Previous experience managing health suppply chain contracts with third party service providers 
in warehousing and/or transportation is strongly desired 
. Specific experience in HIV/AIDS. TB, or Malaria programs strongly desired 
. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team is a plus 
. Extensive knowledge of the Nigerian public health sector 
. Strong analytical and problem solving skills 
. Excellent technical writing and oral presentation skills highly desired 
. A proven ability to work as part of a team and to be self-managing 
. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
. Ability and willingness to travel in the field
