The SFH’s Territorial Manager, Ikejide Sebastine, gave the figure as a key achievement of the society which, he added, has sensitised over 5.5million people on the safety and usefulness of the condom, adding that it has identified and worked with over 10 advocacy groups to further spread the message.
Speaking at a stakeholders forum in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, at the weekend, he said SFH’s activities and achievements fulfilled the objectives of its establishment to reduce HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies, as well as the promotion of healthy lifestyle.
The forum, which intention was to train promoters of female condom, who will in turn advocate and give unbiased information to clients as well as family planning and female healthy lifestyle, harped on the need for participants to take advantage of the knowledge.
He however enumerated the challenges confronting SFH to include low advocacy and low policy support for female condom; low awareness
