West African College of Nursing 14th Biennial General Meeting, 23rd Scientific Session and 37th Council Meeting March, 2017 — Abuja, Nigeria
 
The West African College of Nursing (WACN) will hold its 14th Biennial General Meeting, 23rd Scientific Session and 37th Council meeting from 19th — 25thMarch 2017 in Abuja, Nigeria. The international programme will offer nurses, midwives, other healthcare professionals and the general public an opportunity to come together to discuss community and health workforce responses to current health issues.
The WACN cordially invites submission of abstracts that explore the theme and sub-themes for the programme in the area of nursing and midwifery research, education and practice; community health, and other relevant health domain to be considered for presentation at the 2017 scientific session. Papers may be presented in the symposium, oral/podium, or poster sessions.

Submission Details
Deadline for submission of abstracts is 11:59 PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2016.No extension will be granted. Late submissions will not be considered.
Abstracts should be written in font size Arial 12.
Author's name, qualifications, email address and affiliation should be written in font size Arial 10.
For abstracts with multiple authors, the presenting author's name should be highlighted.
The abstract should not exceed 300 words.
Abstracts should be submitted as word document attachment and sent to the WACN conference online abstract submission site: [email protected].
All authors with accepted abstracts MUST register for the programme before 30th January, 2017.
Multiple author abstracts will only be accepted if at least one of the authors is registered and present at the conference.
 
Abstract Selection and Notification
The Programme Committee will meet mid-December 2016 to peer review and select abstracts that meet the requirements. Selected abstracts shall be confirmed by email. For each accepted symposium, oral/podium, and poster abstract, the Programme Committee will assign the time and date of presentation on the conference schedule. The Committee reserves the right to accept abstracts as symposium, oral/podium or poster presentations. The presentation schedule will be available to presenters via email by January 15, 2017.
Only the presenting authors will be communicated.

ALL PRESENTERS MUST REGISTER FOR THE CONFERENCE AND SHOULD PAY THE APPLICABLE REGISTRATION FEE NOT LATER THAN 30th January, 2017.
Any substituting author, other than the primary author must register for the conference and pay the applicable fee.
The 14th BGM, 23rd Scientific Session and 37th Council meeting registration form will be available on WACN's website (www.wacn-online.com) by September 12, 2016. All other information regarding the programme, including the schedule will be available on the website in due course.
PRESENTATION INFORMATION
Oral/Podium: Each abstract for oral/podium session is allotted 10 minutes for presentation, with 5 minutes for audience questions. Oral/podium presenters are expected to attend the entire session in which their paper is featured.
Poster: Each poster presenter will be allotted a space and time for display, which is either for an entire morning or an entire afternoon. Presenters are expected to be at their poster stand all through the designated time of poster viewing to take questions and comments. Poster display boards measure 4' high (1,220mm) x 8' (2,440mm) wide.
 
The Programme
All relevant information for paper presentations including specific time for each presentation, session moderators, and meeting rooms/halls will be in the programme. Abstracts may list multiple study authors. The onsite printed programme will list a maximum of two authors with an asterisk to indicate that additional authors will be listed with the abstract in the abstract book.
 
Book of abstracts
All accepted abstracts for presentation at the 14th BGM, 23rd Scientific Session and 37th Council meeting will be included in the Book of abstracts that will be available at the BGM venue. The book of abstracts will also contain the papers of the invited plenary session speakers and the Keynote address. Continuing education contact hours will be awarded for the keynote and plenaries. Full text of presentations will be uploaded to the WACN website after the BGM.
Commitment
Authors, on receipt notification of abstract acceptance will be expected to commit to the invitation to present and communicate such in writing to the programme committee. It is important that Presenters should take their commitment to present very seriously, and be physically present at the BGM except in cases of true emergency. Only authors who have submitted their commitment statement and are registered for the programme will be included in the book of abstracts and the presentation schedule. Penalty for late presenter registration, and withdrawal from the programme after committing to present is $50(fifty US dollars). Presenters shall be responsible for their travel, accommodation and other personal expenses for the conferences attendance.
