LAGOS—STRIKING Lagos Univeristy Teaching Hospital, LUTH, workers, under the eagis of Joint House Unions, JHU, yesterday said they opted for industrial action because ‘the hospital environment  is far from being patient or workers-friendly.’

Speaking, heads of the various unions;  National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives;  the Senior Staff Association of Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associatied Instituitions SSAUTHRIAI, the Non Academic Staff Union Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU,  and Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, claimed the working enviroment was deplorable.

According to the Chairman of SSAUTHRIAI, Kehinde Adegoke,  one of the core demands was for improved patient care, lamenting that the  poor patient care had contributed to the bad publicity LUTH had been getting from patients and the general public.
