Yobe Places Medical Students On Salary, Recruits 52 Nurses

Yobe State Governor Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam yesterday approved the immediate recruitment of 52 nurses and the placement of 104 medical students on salary Grade Level 06 in the state’s civil service.
Malam Abdullahi Bego, the governor’s Special Adviser  on Press Affairs, said in a statement yesterday that the approval came after the 52 nurses passed their nursing and midwifery council examinations and successfully gra-duated. All the nurses will be placed on the appropriate salary scale applicable to nurses in the state, he said.
“The governor has approved the placement of 104 medical students currently studying Medicine in various institutions of higher learning on a monthly salary on GL 06 
step 1. The salary commensurate with this grade level will be paid the students on a monthly basis until they graduate as doctors”, the statement said.
It added the state government would also automatically employ the students after their graduation. Bego said the approvals are part of ongoing efforts to re-position the state’s healthcare sector and improve service delivery, and that the Gaidam administration would continue to take proactive steps to improve the welfare of the people.
