2016 Annual Faculty Conference and Gathering Call for Abstracts

This is to invite submission of abstracts of original scientific research for presentation at the 2016 Annual Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Lagos. The conference will hold on Wednesday 8th June 2016. The venue is the Old Great Hall, College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, Idi Araba, Lagos state, Nigeria.

Theme: Environmental Virology, Exposomics and Epigenetics

Subthemes:

a) Non-communicable diseases: environmental and genetic influences

b) Public health financing and resource limitation

GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

1. Abstract submission is open from March 15th to April 30th, 2016.

2. Submissions received after the deadline will not be processed.

3. All abstracts must be submitted online either via email: [email protected] (or alternatively online via the link on the faculty website when this becomes active).

4. The official language of communication during the conference is English

5. The following information must be provided in the order below

i. Title of abstract

ii. Preference for presentation (Oral or Poster)

iii. Surname and first name of corresponding author

iv. Address (department, faculty and institution) of corresponding author

v. Contact details (email address and GSM telephone number) of corresponding author

vi. Names and affiliations of all authors (including corresponding author), listed in the order of preference

vii. Name of the presenting author (if different from the corresponding author)

viii. Indication of the status of the presenting author (i.e. Undergraduate Student; Postgraduate Student; Resident Doctor; Lecturer)

6. Abstract format: The abstract must be structured except if it is a case report. The acceptable format is as follows:

i. Background/Objectives

ii. Materials and Methods

iii. Results iv. Conclusions

v. Keywords (maximum of 5)

7. Abstracts must include data with clear descriptions of results and conclusions. For example, p values without data are not sufficient.

8. Each abstract should be a maximum of 250 words

9. All work must be original and should not have been published previously. Full manuscripts of accepted abstracts can be submitted online at www.journalonweb.com/jcls for peer review towards publication in the Faculty journal – the Journal of Clinical Sciences.
