PORT HARCOURT, NIGERIA Following the long awaited National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) Rivers State Council chairmanship by election, Comrade Lemii Christian has officially emerged victorious, securing a mandate to lead the state’s nursing body into a new era of governance.

The announcement was made via an official press release issued by the Comr. Lemii Christian Campaign Council, expressing deep gratitude to God, national union executives, and unit leadership across the state. The campaign council also extended an apology for the brief delay in issuing the statement, noting that circumstances beyond their control had temporarily postponed the release.

Despite the physical absence of the Campaign Director General during the voting process, the council emphasized that confidence remained absolute in the collective wisdom of Rivers State nurses to make the right choice for the profession.

A Unified Front and Swift Transition

The by election saw participation from delegate representatives, including Unit Chairmen and Secretaries from across Rivers State, alongside national officers who supervised the electoral process.

In a notable display of professional solidarity, opposing candidates chose to concede defeat promptly following the declaration of results, opting against formal protests or petitions in the interest of union stability.

Acknowledging this gesture, the Campaign Council commended the opponents for their sportsmanship and formally extended a hand of fellowship to all political factions involved in the race.
