Five Chinese medical universities have promised to give medical students from Jigawa State priority in terms of admission.
The state governor, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, while fielding questions from newsmen in Dutse, said his administration would cash in on the opportunity to train indigenes with requisite qualification.
He said finding also revealed that about 60 per cent of the money usually spent on training such students in countries like Egypt and India could be saved.
He said his administration decided to patronize the institutions because China is among the countries that produce high quality pharmaceutical products. “Studying medicine in China will reduce cost of training by more than 60 per cent. The current training we do in India, Egypt and some other countries is more expensive compared to what is required for the same training in China. The quality of Chinese medicine we all know is high. We also know that there is a great demand for medical doctors back home in the state,” he stated.
