The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Tuesday reported 428 new COVID-19 cases across 13 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The health agency also reported eight additional COVID-19 related death.
The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Wednesday. According to the agency’s data, Rivers State recorded the highest figures for new infections for the day with 188 cases.
Ondo reported 54 cases followed by FCT – 42, Imo – 25, Nasarawa – 24, Oyo – 23, Edo – 18, Akwa Ibom – 16, Ogun – 14, Osun – 10, Kano – 7, Ekiti – 3, Borno – 2, Plateau – 2. The reported 428 new infections have brought the total number of confirmed cases to 244,548 while 216,814 people have recovered and have been discharged.
However, with eight additional fatalities reported, the death toll from the virus now stands at 3,053.The agency added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
