The Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, has confirmed that death toll from Cholera outbreak in the state has risen to 42 while 2,874 persons have been infected.

Former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aliyu Maigoro, had on May 25 told journalists at a press briefing that 20 persons had died of the disease while over 300 persons were admitted in different hospitals across the state. 

Another data given on June 12 by Rilwanu showed that additional 17 persons had died. He released another report yesterday, which indicated that the death toll has risen to 42.

According to him, Bauchi, the state capital, recorded the highest number of cases with 2,185 cases with 22 deaths. Toro local council recorded 212 cases with eight deaths. 

Others are Ningi local council, 92 cases with two deaths; Dass local council, 100 cases with three deaths; Misau local council, 57 cases with four deaths and Tafawa Balewa local council, 102 cases with four deaths.

Rilwanu said that the disease has spread to 15 out of the 20 local councils of the state.
