Cleric Proposes Human Relations Training for Health Workers

A senior pastor of the Foursquare Gospel Church, Rev Jet Akande, has proposed an orientation programme on human relations for government health workers.

The clergy made the call at a medical outreach held in Lagos on Saturday to commemorate her birthday.

She said, “The government needs to step up their game in the area of sensitising health workers on human relations. If you go to the hospital, most of their personnel, particularly the non-professionals, could be very nasty. They shout at people. They should show kindness and be humane in what they are doing. Some people came here and we told them to bear with us, as we have reached the limit of our registration and they could come some other time.

“If it were to be somewhere else in the government place, it is either they give you an attitude or they do not attend to you. I have seen people that died because they were not attended to as when due. We can help them organise a lecture for their staff. ”

She said, “The government needs to put more budgets into hospitals. They should ask for volunteers. There are people who are medical professionals that can be of help. They are not asking for money. Like what we are doing here. People have given their services and we are not paying them. We have three consultants here.”
