Job Title: Lead Nurse - Pediatrics Unit

Location: Benin, Edo

Job Summary

  • The Pediatric Nurse Lead oversees the daily operations of the Pediatrics ward, supervising nurses and other healthcare staff (including CHEWS and Interns).
  • Their responsibilities include ensuring proper care is provided to pediatric patients, training their team in prioritizing care based on medical needs, and maintaining Quality Control (QC) and Quality Management System (QMS) standards in accordance with ISO 9000:2015 and ISO 140001, while adhering to international best practices procedures.

Employees Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform professional nursing care to patients admitted to the pediatrics ward
  • Perform admission assessment, review patient history, and develop a plan of care for the patients using the nursing process format in HMS.
  • Ensure that a new file is created for the baby immediately after birth in the HMS
  • Ensure medication and treatment of patients are administered according to the physician’s order and medication policy and protocols
  • Ensure proper documentation of patient’s care, partograph, and baby birth certificate inappropriate manner.
  • Responsible for patient’s discharge planning.
  • Ensure the unit is stocked with standard level of consumable supplies, medications and equipment’s
  • Coordinate, evaluate and supervise employee in the provision of patient’s care.
  • Responsible for administering, staffing the unit, and overseeing staff trainings.
  • Monitor quality of care and ensure department activities align with corporate goals.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.NSc / B.Mid) required is an added advantage.
  • 3 to 5 years of clinical experience
  • Must possess BLS and ACLS training certificate
  • Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act
  • Strong proficiency in simulation-based learning, clinical assessments, and student mentorship.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Package.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Registered Midwife (RM) with a valid practicing license from NMCN.
