Kogi State Government has dismissed to claim by the Centre for Disease Control that two cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the state. The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Saka Audu, in a statement said the test not emanate from the state.

He said, “We have developed full testing capacity and have conducted hundreds of tests so far which have come back negative.

“We have also continued to insist we will not be a party to any fictitious COVID-19 claims, which is why we do not recognise any COVID-19 test conducted by any Kogite outside the boundaries of the state except those initiated by us.

“Any attempt to force us to announce a case of COVID-19 will be vehemently rejected.”

Earlier, the state Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategies, Kingsley Fanwo, in a statement, said the state government was still evaluating the claim and not ready to make any comment for now.

“We cannot comment on the claims for now. We got to know like every other person. So we are evaluating the situation and gathering the facts,” he had said. The NCDC had on its daily briefing on Thursday said two new cases we recorded from a test carried out on samples from Kogi State.
