SUMMARY

We are looking for a skillful laboaratory scientist who has good mastery of the 3 aspect of medical laboratory science. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring delivery of timely and accurate test results to all patients. He is also expected to participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating all new initiatives geared towards maintaining the quality standard of the laboratory and its conformity to international best practice.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operate sophisticated equipment such as microscope and cell counters.

2. Log data from medical tests and enter results into a patient medical records

3. Determine calculated results, utilizing testing date by means of manual or computerized procedures.

4. Perform test calibrations and run quality control materials at appropriate intervals

5. Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, such as blood, urine, using microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases, and enter findings into computer.

6. Analyze the results of tests and experiment to ensure conformity to specification, using special mechanical and electrical devices.

7. Analyze and record tests data to issue reports that use charts graphs and narratives.

8. Obtain specimen, cultivating, isolation and identifying microorganism for analysis

9. Examine cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities.

10. Collect blood or tissue sample from patients observing principle of a sepsis to obtain blood sample

11. Prepare standard volumetric solution, and reagents to be combined with samples, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures

12. Maintaining and updating professional knowledge and taking responsibility for CPD

13. Perform all task, duties and tests related to laboratory services.

14. Process specimen utilizing protocols and technical knowledge.

15. Perform quality control, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting protocols to ensure Proper functioning of instruments, reagents, procedures, etc.

16. Validate and reports results of tests performed.

17. Deliver patients reports accordingly, on-time and in conformance with applicable confidentiality requirements.

18. Follow established safety practices including bio-hazards, exposure control plan (for blood borne pathogens) infection control to include universal precautions employee right to know about hazardous chemicals hygiene standards.

19. Attended all in-service education as required by the hospital, relevant national policies.

20. Laboratory license requirements.

21. Research and develop new procedures as required.

22. Attend departmental meetings and professional training sessions as requested.

23. Do other things as instructed by the Laboratory Manager from time to time.

ELIGIBILITY

1. Educational qualification

• • A Degree in Medical Laboratory Science
• • Possesses relevant Practicing License
• • Certified member of the recognized professional body of medical practitioners (AMLSCN).

2. Experience

• • At least 2-3 years’ experience in medical practice preferably in a busy healthcare facility.
• • Hands on experience in performing all tests across the 3 benches.
