As part of a bold and forward-thinking push to strengthen its healthcare system, the Ondo State Government is extending a warm invitation to doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals eager to make a difference. This comes in the wake of an ambitious revitalisation of the state’s Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across all 203 wards.

Speaking at the launch of the Non-State Actor (NSA) initiative for the IMPACT Malaria Project in Akure, Professor Simidele Odimayo, Special Adviser on Health to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, highlighted the state’s proactive strategy to bridge existing workforce gaps through inclusive recruitment.

“With the ongoing upgrades and renovation of our PHCs, opportunities for healthcare workers are not just available—they're expanding by the day,” Odimayo said. “If you know any qualified doctors or nurses seeking meaningful work, tell them Ondo State welcomes them with open arms.”

Odimayo emphasized that the compensation packages for health workers in Ondo are now aligned with federal standards—an incentive designed to attract top talent. He also underlined the peace and stability of the state, positioning it as a safe, supportive, and forward-moving environment for professionals.

“The governor has not relented,” he added. “Recruitment is active, and continuous training and retraining are integral to our health sector reform.”

The unveiling of the NSA under the IMPACT Malaria Project also marked a significant milestone. Project Coordinator Dr. Waheed Abolaji Afolayan praised the collaborative spirit behind the initiative, noting that non-state actors are stepping up to play key roles in malaria control efforts.

According to Afolayan, increased access to anti-malaria commodities has already led to higher patient turnout in health facilities. He affirmed that awareness campaigns and targeted interventions will be intensified to ensure every resident knows where and how to access essential services.

With its renewed focus on healthcare delivery, strategic partnerships, and open call for skilled professionals, Ondo State is shaping a future where accessible and quality healthcare is not just a goal—but a lived reality.
