Job Title: Research & Policy Lead

Location: Guzape, Abuja (FCT)

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose and Function

  • The ‘Research and Policy Lead' is responsible for designing and leading evidence-based policy solutions and advocacy campaigns that contribute to combating gender inequalities, discriminatory practices, and gender-based violence across communities, including environments of learning.
  • The ideal candidate will provide technical support on anti-sexual harassment framework design and adoption in higher education institutions.
  • S/he will be responsible for conducting thorough social and gender research, using the findings in the policy solutions and in the ‘transformation of social norms’ delivery models, and subsequently developing innovative advocacy strategies to facilitate the adoption of innovative policy solutions.

Principal duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the overall work of policy review, adoption, and implementation strategies in higher education institutions.
  • Develop high-quality evidence-based analysis, position papers, and policy briefings.
  • Shape policy agenda and contribute to the design of the organization’s strategic goals on policy and advocacy development.
  • Develop policy position papers, briefs, and factsheets related to ending gender inequalities and sexual harassment in higher education institutions.
  • Research, analyze, and make evidence-based recommendations on policies linked to sexual harassment.
  • Implement and participate in advocacy efforts and campaigns aiming at the adoption of policies and laws that challenge gender-related norms and behaviors.
  • Plan and organize formal and non-formal events, conferences, and conversations to promote the adoption of model policies.
  • Work collaboratively with the programs' unit and product manager to coordinate advocacy and drive the adoption of survivor-centered reporting mechanisms in tertiary institutions.

Skills and Educational Requirements

  • A Master's Degree in Social Sciences, Law, Gender Studies, Public Policy, Human Rights, International Development, Public Health or related discipline and a minimum of 3 years in gender advocacy, research, and policy development.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills and techniques to conduct research and address related problems.
  • Track record in designing and conducting evidence-based policy research and analysis.
  • Strong experience and knowledge in Gender and women’s rights and of current gender related laws, policies, trends, and gender gaps and priorities.
  • Proficiency in the use of the Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and sufficient experience in statistical software packages and databases (such as SPSS)
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to establish, maintain effective partnerships and working relations with multi-cultural teams and diverse groups.
  • Experience in designing and implementing advocacy strategies and driving policy engagement.
  • Excellent organizational skills and project management skills.

Remuneration

N300,000 - N360,000 / month.

Communication Allowance:

N25,000
