Taraba Prepares For Next Phase Of The Campaign Against Covid-19

Plans by the Taraba state government to expand testing and treatment facilities for COVID-19 in preparation for the next phase of its campaign against the pandemic, have been concluded by the state governor, Arc. Darius  Dickson Ishaku Ishaku

Ishaku who  made this known  in Jalingo when the members of the state Task Force on COVID-19 led by its chairman, Dr Innocent Vakkai presented an Executive Summary of the activities of the Task Force to him in Government House, said the state would continue to put in place measures that would halt the spread of the virus in the state .

A critical looked at the said reports indicated that the state as at the time of filing this report,  has recorded so far 95 cases of Covid 19 infection but without a single fatality. The chairman,  who doubles as the commissioner of Health , said all the cases were successfully treated and they have re-joined their families.

The governor who went ahead to attributed the low cases of infection and high rate of survival to the early and adequate preparations made by his administration, said he has resolved to tread all legitimate paths in collaboration with the necessary bodies to prevent the state from recording more cases.

While recalling how he was heavily criticised by political opponents for his timely decision to lock down and close markets, worship centres and the state's borders, the early measures, put in place , he believed, "have paid off"

Applauding the people of the state for bearing the pains of those necessary steps taken to prevent spread of the disease with understanding, stating that the low infection rates recorded had vindicated his administration, he assured that efforts were being intensified to keep the disease completely out of State and also that nobody dies as a result of it.

His administration as made known by him is expanding testing and isolation facilities in the state to ensures cases, when they occur, are promptly and properly handled.

The governor who also  commended members of the task force for a job well done reiteratee his administration determinations promised to continue to extend the much needed helping hands to the taskforce to do more. For him to succeed in depriving the virus further access to the state , urged the people to continue to practice the international protocol of prevention because COVID-19 is a reality.

On their parts, the taskforce through its chairman, attributed the successes recorded in the battle against the pandemic to the moral and material support from the Governor. The next phase of activities against the spread of the pandemic, sensitisation , according to him, "will remain a critical area of emphasis."
