The management of University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Port Harcourt hereby invites applications from interested and suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position of Chief Medical Director.

Job Title: Chief Medical Director

Requirements  

Interested candidates must have the following qualifications:

• - Must be a Medical or Dental Practitioner registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) with not less than twelve (12) years post-graduation experience  
• - Must possess a current practicing license from MDCN  
• - Must be a fellow of either the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or West African Postgraduate Medical College, or its equivalent, registered by MDCN  
• - Must have been a Consultant for a minimum of five (5) years  
• - Must be medically fit (attach evidence)  
• - Must be of proven good character and integrity  
• - Evidence of medical research is an added advantage  
• - Administrative qualification and experience are added advantages  
• - Knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an added advantage  
• - Attraction of funded grants by individual candidate is an added advantage  

Responsibilities  

The Chief Medical Director is the Chief Executive of the institution. He or she is accountable to the Board of Management and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare.

The Chief Medical Director is charged with the responsibility of executing policies and overseeing matters affecting the day-to-day management of the hospital.

Salary and Allowances  

Salary and allowances will be in accordance with the Service Salary Structure for this category of officers.

Method of Application  

Twenty (20) copies of the application letter and Curriculum Vitae must be submitted in a sealed envelope addressed to:

The candidate should include a Vision Statement for the hospital for the next four (4) years, not exceeding 1000 words.

The Curriculum Vitae must include the names and addresses of three (3) referees. One of the referees must be a Senior Medical or Dental Practitioner with not less than twenty (20) years post-qualification experience and must be in a position to attest to the candidate's academic, professional, and managerial abilities, as well as moral character and integrity. Recommendation letters from the referees should accompany the application.
