Pharmacentre, an online market for pharmaceutical products, has said it can check fake products and shutout pharmacists, businesses engaging in unethical practices.

According to the Wellness Healthcare Group at the launch of the platform in Lagos, the platform was established to support business to business (B2B), business to customer (B2C), community and last mile services.

Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Digital Encode Limited Dr. Peter Obadare, at the unveiling, said the innovation was apt because technology had changed the landscape of businesses across the world.

In his keynote address: Exploring the Digital Age Opportunities: the Future of healthcare in Africa, Obadare said being a digital marketer would help firms strategise in the physical world and be valuable in the digital economy

He said: “Digitalisation is changing everything we do. COVID-19 disrupted most industries and technology has also displaced a lot of companies and individuals.

“With this launch, Pharmacentre is the biggest in the pharmaceutical industry at the moment. Technology is the elephant in the house, but its usage comes with a lot of risk.

“The reality is that if you do what is right … most of those inherent risks that can impact on customers and other people within the eco system will be minimised.

“Pharmacentre has, therefore, put mechanism in place to consider security and cybercrime. This is to ensure that everyone coming on board are validated. It is also to ensure that the right people are within that eco-system to take care of all of those inherent concerns of people.”

National President of the Pharmaceutical Companies in Nigeria Prof. Cyril Usifo said the platform would facilitate tracking of adulterated drugs within the space as pharmacists and all stakeholders would have common meeting place.
