The West African College of Physicians WACP has officially released the comprehensive guidelines for the 2026 Primary, Membership and Fellowship Examinations. The College has opened its online portal for eligible applicants across West Africa and has outlined all requirements, fees, deadlines and examination centres for the upcoming cycle.
The College emphasized that all applications and payments must be completed online only, as bank drafts and teller payments are no longer accepted. Candidates are strongly advised to read all instructions carefully to avoid disqualification during the vetting process.
PRIMARY EXAMINATION
Compulsory documents include a full registration certificate with the Medical and Dental Council which must not be provisional, MBBS certificate, completed and signed Primary Certification Form, passport photograph, and a registration fee of 150 USD.
Application process requires candidates to download and complete the certification form, prepare all documents in PDF format, and submit them through the online portal.
The examination date is Thursday 19 February 2026.
The mode of examination is Computer Based Test.
Examination centres are Abuja, Enugu, Ibadan, Accra, Banjul, Monrovia and Freetown.
The examination fee is 150 USD or 195000 Naira or 1950 Ghana Cedis. Applicants outside Nigeria must follow country specific payment instructions, including obtaining a unique payment code where applicable.
MEMBERSHIP EXAMINATION
Compulsory documents include completed Form C, Certificate of Training, WACP Revision Course Certificate, WACP Medical Ethics Certificate, Physician in Training letter, Primary result or exemption letter, passport photograph, completed logbook in PDF format, and autopsy book for Laboratory Medicine candidates.
The CBT screening will take place on Wednesday 18 February 2026. Clinical and practical examinations will be held between 27 and 30 September 2025 at UCH Ibadan, NHA Abuja and KBTH Accra.
The membership examination fee is 425 USD or 552500 Naira or 5525 Ghana Cedis. An additional practical fee of 85 USD applies to Laboratory Medicine and Community Health candidates.
All documents must be uploaded online and candidates are required to bring original copies to the examination venue. Only candidates who pass the CBT screening will proceed to the clinical stage.
FELLOWSHIP EXAMINATION
Compulsory documents include completed Form C, Certificate of Training, WACP Membership Certificate, Research Methodology Certificate, Fellowship in Training letter, Revision Update Certificate, passport photograph, approved proposal in MS Word format, and dissertation in MS Word format.
The examination dates are from 25 to 28 March 2026. Examination centres are UCH Ibadan, NHA Abuja and KBTH Accra.
The fellowship examination fee is 625 USD or 812500 Naira or 8125 Ghana Cedis. The casebook or dissertation fee is 125 USD or 162500 Naira or 1625 Ghana Cedis. An additional practical fee of 85 USD applies to Laboratory Medicine and Community Health candidates.
Candidates are required to email their dissertation, proposal and casebook to the designated College email addresses and upload their logbooks online.
IMPORTANT NOTES FOR ALL CANDIDATES
- All applications must be submitted online only.
- Altered or falsified documents will attract sanctions and may be reported to the Medical and Dental Council.
- The College enforces strict dress codes and zero tolerance for malpractice.
- Physically challenged applicants must notify the Secretary General during application.
- There will be no deferment or refund for non attendance.
- Candidates must ensure their training duration meets the required months stated in their faculty curriculum.
