National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria Announces A 3-Day Training Workshop in Basic & Advanced Life Support For Health Care Professionals
The course is intended for: 
All cadres of doctors and other senior health professionals but particularly: 
(i) Those working in the ICU, A&E and gperating Theatres. 
(ii) Medical/Surgical/Obstetrics & Gynaecology in-patient care Units. 
(iii) GOP and Specialty Outpatient departments 
The workshop is scheduled to hold as follows: 
Date: Wednesday 26th to Friday 28m March 2014 
Venue: National Sickle Cell Center, Opposite LUTH, Idi-Araba, Lagos 
Time: 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. daily 
Course Fees: N75,000.00

Goals: Participants will acquire a good understanding of the pathophysiological basis of cardiopulmonary arrest; aptitude for prompt recognition and diaqnosis; 
competencies/skills for institution of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and for training others.
The Objectives are to: 
provide adequate knowledge, skills and competencies in CPR through lectures, workshop and hands-on experience. to attain international standard of training and certification by adopting guidelines for training facilitated by competent/certified resource persons and with the use of relevant mannequins. 
Modalities: 
• Lectures, discussions and practical sessions; 
• Accomplished competent/certified resource persons shall be the faculty; 
• It shall be entirely interactive with lots of hands on sessions. 
Course Contents: 
1. Cardiac Arrest: definition, causes, prevalence and risk factors. 
2. Clinical Features/diagnoses of Cardiac Arrest. 
3. Basic Life Support. . 
4. ManagementoftheAirway. 
5. Cardiac Monitoring and Rhythm recognition. 
6. Defibrillation. 
7. Drugs. 
8. Treatment/Algorithms. 
9. CardiacArrest in Special circumstances. 
10. Pacing. 
11. Ethics and Legal Aspects. 
12. Bereavement. 
13. Management of Peri - Arrest Arrythmias. 
Certificates will be issued to participants at the end of the Course. It will attract CME credit units by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)
