As part of efforts to improve access to healthcare services in public hospitals, the Rotary Club, Garki neighbourhood, has donated various hospital equipment to Anagada Health Centre under Gwagwalada area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Items donated included wheel chair, hospital beds and mattresses, table, drugs, scale, examination coach, drip stands, screen, drug dispensers and stethoscope among others.
He noted that the principle of paying back to society has driven the organisation to constantly make donations to various communities, adding also that “five rural women have been selected to benefit from an ongoing small scale, interest-free loan scheme designed to boost their socio-economic wellbeing.”
According to Iwuofor, the Rotary selected the Anagada Health Centre because of its precarious state, basically lacking vital hospital kits and equipment to support even uncomplicated health issues.
Matron of the hospital, Hajia Hassan Wodi, who received the items on behalf of the hospital management, said the donations came as a surprise to the hospital staff. While commending the association for the gesture, she urged them not to relent in their good works.
Beneficiaries of the soft loan who are full time housewives also commended Rotary club for counting them worthy to access the interest-free loan secured in partnership with Fortis Micro Finance. They pledged timely return of the loan to enable other women have their turn. Some of the beneficiaries include Gambo Adamu, Zuwera Jubrin, Hajara Suleiman, Aishat Alhassan and Rainat Garba.
Members of the club who witnessed the presentation of cheques and hospital equipment include Oye Oyewo, Glory Haruna, Seth Oyinloye, Martha Okii and Blessing Iwuofor among others.
