I consider it a great privilege to have begun my second tenure as the chairman of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), in October this year. First, let me welcome all our distinguished guests most warmly, on behalf of the State Administrative Council, State Executive Council and the entire NANNM family. I thank you for taking time off your busy schedule to honour us with your presence.

I seize this opportunity to again express my profound gratitude to all member of the NANNM for entrusting the leadership of our great Association to me and my colleagues on the Administrative Council for the next four years. We thank you for investing your trust in us. We shall not let you down.

The mission of the Nigerian Nurses and Midwives Association as a trade group is focus on “protecting and advancing the common interests of Nurses and Midwives in Nigeria by creating and sustaining a positive image for the Health care industry, ensuring the professionalism of her members in discharging of their duties and contributing to legislation and decisions made by the Government and other public authorities in the best interest of the Health care industry in particular and the national economy in general.” All things considered, our Association has fared quite well in the fulfillment of this mandate. We have recorded appreciable progress over four decades, a tribute to the hard work and purposeful determination of past Chairmen and members of the Administrative Council as well as the commitment shown by the members of State executives council and our entire members.

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, today’s inauguration signals the beginning of a fresh journey in the advancement of our Association to the next level. In our Association, there is a continuum and the new term simply presents another opportunity to consolidate our past gains and further treatment the healthcare in the nation’s socio-economic circles.
