My dear colleagues, I appreciate the expression of concerns and worries about the contents of Yayale Ahmed committee's report. The fear expressed by some colleagues that rather than resolve crisis in health sector, the committee's report could create more crisis in the sector has been noted and rated as very valid! 

 

Let me assure us that we are going to resist any attempt to further enslave our profession. Our position will be to the white paper committee which govt intends to set up. The report remains a mere report which can not replace extant laws, scheme of service and other statutes. 

 

Let me remind colleagues that just as Justice Gusau committee's report was rejected by medics, we re going to reject this report or sections of the report that are injurious to our profession or that are outrightly in conflicts with some sections of MLSCN Act, 2003, National Health Act 2014, unambiguous court judgements (NIC) and other statutes. I assure colleagues that a committee of AMLSN that will scrutinise the report and make specific / appropriate recommendations is to be set up urgently by us. 

This is to get our positions ready for the white paper committee any time it is set up. Let me advice colleagues on the need to maintain confidentiality on some issues on the report for now. I assure us that no injury to our profession or AMLSN shaII be tolerated. I thank you all for your concerns.
