A project undertaken by the Heineken African Founda-tion in collaboration with Nigerian Breweriess Plc and The Learning Place Centre that covered the training of medical professionals in the United States on diagnos-ing autism, renovation and kitting of the classrooms as well as upgrade of the occupational therapy centres in Lekki and Maryland was commissioned in Maryland recently. The Lekki centre has since ben commissioned and put to use.
Speaking at the commissioning of the centre, Mr Kufre Ekanem, Corporate Affairs Advser, Nigerian Breweries Plc said the donation was part of Heineken Africa Foundation contribution to upscaling the Autism program in Nigeria.

He said the Heineken Africa Foundation was estab-lished in 2007 to support the improvement of health for people living in Sub-Saharan African communities. "The foundation provides financial support to relevant health projects as well as health- related educational projects in .countries where Heineken is operating. As a heineken operating company in Nigeria , Nigerian Breweries Plc accepted the challenge to upgrade this occupational therapy centre as yet another plank of our standing commitment to winning with Nigeria which we have demonstrated in education, health , sports and youth development, among other areas. "Over the years, the partnership between the Heinek-en African Foundation and Nigerian Breweries has im-pacted positively on a number of communities across Nigeria. The projects undertaken by HAF so far in-clude; donation of a VVF hospital ward at Haji Gumbo Samba, general Hospital, Zaria, Kaduna State in 2010, sponsorship of the training of traditional birth attendant at the same hospital in 2011, sponsorship of the training of VVF doctor in the Netherlands and donations of sur-gery equipment at the emergency ward of St.Gerard's hospital in Kaduna in 2010.
In 2011, we constructed and furnished the female orthopaedic ward at st, Ge-rard's hospital Kaduna and donated a CT scan machine with 100 KVA lister generator to the same hospital in 2013. "In 2012, the Heineken African Foundation in con-jundtion with Nigerian Breweries PLC donated two {2} unit of dialysis equipment to the Nephrology De-partment of Lagos State Teaching Hospital [LASUTH], Ikeja, Lagos. in Namu, Plateau State, we renovated the Virgules Memorial Health Centre where we also do-nated theatre equipment in 2015.
