EARLY LIFE, EDUCATION & WORK
In the words of William Shakespeare "... all the world is a stage, and all the men and women merely players: They have their entrances and exits..."
Dr. Living Ageyoi Jamala (Bestman) was born on the 27th day of February in the year 1977, to the family of Late Chief Living David-Jamala (of the Ogueze Royal family) in Emelego — Odual, Abua/OdualLocal Government Area (ABOLGA) of Rivers State.
He began his educational pursuit at a very tender age. His parents having known education as the greatest asset to be bequeathed to any loved one, got him enrolled at the Adibom Central State School, Emelego in 1982 where he got his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1988. He was subsequently admitted into G.S.S Emelego, where he obtained his West African Examination Council (WAEC) Certificate in 1994.
Dr. Living was determined to study Medicine and Surgery and subsequently turned down admission offers to study other courses. Whilst waiting patiently for his desired choice, he proceeded to the Rivers State College of Arts & Science for his A Levels studies in 1996. In 1997 he was offered a provisional admission into the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) to study Medicine and Surgery. An offer he wholeheartedly accepted and pursued vigorously with all sense of diligence and graduated with MB.BS in 2004, after a successful induction as a Medical Practitioner.
He did his Housemanship as a House Officer at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) from 2004 to 2005. He was called to serve his fatherland in the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)programme from 2006 to 2007 and did his primary assignment with the Sokoto State Ministry of Health. His dedication, commitment and passion for work earned him awards both at the State and Local Government levels, for his contributions to community development during his Service year.
Upon his return from the one year service, Dr. Living had his services engaged in various private clinics/hospitals before his subsequent employment with the Rivers State Government through the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) in 2009 as a Medical Officer. He later rose to the rank of a Senior Medical Officer 2 before his untimely death. While in the Rivers State service, he had previously worked in OkarkiPrimary Health Center before being seconded to Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMSH), Port Harcourt, as a Registrar in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
In 2010, he sat and passed his Primaries in Obstetrics &Gynaecology. His dream was to acquire more knowledge/training from senior colleagues, work and study hard, become a Consultant at the earliest possible time and serve humanity through diligent medical practice.
During the few years Dr. Living was privileged to practice Medicine, he earned the friendship and admiration of both his colleagues and patients. He was a humble and unassuming servant.
SOCIAL LIFE.
Late Dr. Living was often quiet in his dispositions. His social engagements were channeled towards the uplifting of lives. He co-founded the Ogbo — Egbael of Emelego, (ABOLGA),an NGO with the sole aim of encouraging/promoting education amongst the youths in his community. He was until his death, a member of Reasonable Friends Social club in Bayelsa State. He also found out time amidst his tight schedules to indulge in sports (mostly indoor games) and was a one time National champion of National Medical Students games of draught in his University days.
CHRISTIAN LIFE
Having been born to a Christian family, late Dr. Living never lost track of his Christian background and upbringing. He lived all his life in the propagation of the Christ. He was until his death, a member of the Living Faith Church, Worldwide. He contributed his little quota to the growth of his local church and until his demise, was a Deacon/Elder of the Church.
FAMILY LIFE
He was a wonderful husband, a caring/ loving father and a dependable brother. His love for his family (immediate & extended) was his passion for life. Poised to live a godly life and avoid the temptations inherent with bachelorhood, Dr. Living opted to settle down and raise his dream family. Before his departure, he left behind this world his dear wife, Mrs. Tarimoboere Jamala, five brilliant and beautiful children, brothers, sister, uncles, aunties, cousins, nephews and a host of other relations.
As you journey to the eternal life, we are consoled by the fact that though your years on this earth were short, your days were well spent. Adieu, our dear Dr. Living Ageyoi Jamala. May the Lord grant us all the fortitude to bear this great loss.
. Mr. Felix Living Jamala
