Participants at the distribution of National Union of Bauchi State Students 2015/2016 first free education initiative programme at General Hassan Usman Katsina Unity College Bauchi yesterday.
The Canadian High Commission in Nigeria has donated three buses, laboratory equipment and learning items as well as Information Communication Technology (ICT) materials and generating sets to College of Nursing and Midwifery, Bauchi. The materials were presented to the Bauchi state Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar yesterday by the Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria Mr. Perry John Calderwod who said that in addition to the material support, his country also sponsored the college tutors for post-graduate programmes.
He added that the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria had funded a lot of projects in Bauchi State’s health sector over the years and will continue to support other projects in the state. “I am pleased that Nigeria was recently delisted by WHO from being a polio endemic nation and we will continue to support Nigeria’s path towards polio-free certification in 2017,” he said. Receiving the items, Governor Mohammed Abubakar said they came at the right time as they would improve the learning capacity of nurses in the college.
