ONCOLOGY Radiologist, Dr. Omolara Salako, has disclosed that through the 2015 Light Lagos Pink breast cancer awareness campaign, SEBECCLY Cancer Care and Support Centre would provide care for about 20,000 breast cancer patients in Nigeria. 

 

Addressing newsmen in Lagos recently, Dr. Salako disclosed that the care is an effort to reduce incidences of cancer as well as create awareness about the disease. The centre is also organising the programme to raise funds to help cancer patient's access life-saving treatments. 

 

 

Salako, who is founder of SEBECCLY Cancer Care and Support Centre stated that the tendency for most breast cancer patients to resort to self- denial and erroneous superstitious beliefs were among numerous factors hindering effective cure, care and management of breast cancer in Nigeria. 

 

The Light Lagos Pink tagged # 12KLLP according to the project Coordinator, Omosigho Ozor is an annual breast cancer awareness programme designed to raise more consciousness on the breast cancer scourge, help alleviate the plight of patients and draw attention to high cost of treatment as well as raise funds to support treatment of cancer patients. 

 

She further revealed that the October event would allow for complaints on breast issues and help more Nigerian women survive the disease with better treatment outcomes.
