A nutritionist at Garki Hospital, Abuja, Miss Yemisi Olowookere, has said that the consumption of quail eggs can help to boost the immune system and promote good memory.
Olowookere told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday that quail eggs increase brain activity and stabilise the nervous system.

She added that “the Chinese use quail eggs to help in the treatment of tuberculosis, asthma and even diabetes.
“If you suffer from kidney, liver or gallbladder stones, quail eggs can help to remove these types of stones.
“Children who eat quail eggs are less likely to suffer from infectious diseases than those who don’t.’’
The nutritionist explained that eating quail eggs was beneficial to health, improve immune function, adding that they could also help to improve metabolism.
She said eating three to five quail eggs each morning could promote strong immune system.
Olowookere said quail eggs could be eaten raw after washing them in boiling water, adding that quails were resistant to infections due to their increased content of lysozyme that kills harmful bacteria.
She said many people associated quail eggs with improvements in skin tone and healthy hair.
“Men benefit from eating quail eggs because the phosphorous contained in eggs helps prostate health. The vitamins and proteins in quail eggs are also considered as sexual stimulant.
“Unlike chicken eggs, quail eggs have not been known to cause allergies. The eggs actually help to fight allergy due to the ovomucoid protein they contain,’’ Olowookere said.
She explained that quail eggs contain 13 per cent proteins compared with 11 per cent in chicken eggs.
She noted that quail eggs also contain 140 per cent of vitamin B1 compared with 50 per cent in chicken eggs and provide five times as much iron and potassium than chicken eggs.
“Quail eggs are packed with vitamins and minerals. Even with their small size, their nutritional value is three to four times greater than chicken eggs.
“Its regular consumption will help to fight against many diseases. It is a natural combatant against digestive tract disorders such as stomach ulcers.
“Raw quail egg consumption provides stronger health benefits than cooked eggs,’’ she said. (NAN)
