Health workers, civil society organisations and other major stakeholders in the  health sector on Thursday met in  Kaduna to brainstorm on ways to address the condition of health care delivery in the state. This was just as the state Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, said the state government was in the process of recruiting 3,000 health workers for the 255 primary health care centres in each of the 255 wards of the state.

 

The governor said, “The plan is to ensure that each PHC has the required number of staff members, including pharmacists, to render basic health services to our citizens, because the state consider the provision of health care services as key to producing an economically-productive citizenry in the state.

 

“We plan to produce radio-pharmaceutics and PET radio-chemist by sending two young people from our state to Kings College in London to study radio-pharmaceutics.” Meanwhile, the meeting organised by Partnership in Child and Family Health Scale was an offshoot of an international  conference held recently on contemporary issues relating to quality health-care delivery in the state.
