The management of Dr.Ameyo Stella Adadevoh Health Trust have inaugurated a health care initiative that is aimed at curbing infectious disease outbreaks in the country.
This was made known on Tuesday in Lagos, when DRASA was formally inaugurated at a fundraising and awareness dinner.
The event also commemorated the first anniversary of Nigeria's Ebala-free status, as declared by the World Health Organisation.
DRASA was inaugurated in memory of the late Adadevoh, to honour her contributions to Nigeria's successful fight against the Ebala VIrus Disease.
The Managing Director of DRASA, Ms. Niniola Soleye, said the NGO would support the nation's health care system in four major areas: education and training, policy, research, and disease control. She said the interventions would include outbreak preparedness/response project, simulation training programmes, and the #It Starts With Me Handwashing campaign.
Soleye said, "For the outbreak preparedness/response project, we are partnering with other NGOs and corporate entities to train 1,000 health workers across the country on the spectmm of outbreak response for Ebala and other infectious diseases."
"DRASA will also develop a university curriculum and a digital exemplified the essence of an platform based on the training for ethical medical practitioner when further dissemination.
"Under the: simulation infectious patient, paying the training programme, we will champion medical simulation For Students and Health professionals to fill a critical gap and Build capacity in the areas of medical ethics and infectious diseases.
Decrying the Dearth of expertise om ethics and infectious disease control in Nigeria Soleye said, "The late Adadevoh exemplified the essence of an ethical medical practitioner when she led the team that treated an infectious patient, paying the ultimate price in the process. this made her truly faithful to the Hippocratic Oath.
