The Honorable Minister of state, Health, Dr. Khaliru Alhassan has said that Ebola Virus Disease is not yet defeated but that Nigeria is winning the war against the disease judging from the success story recorded in Lagos and commendations received by the country from all over the world.

Dr. Alhassan said this when members of the Initiative for National Rebirth paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. The Minister stressed that Nigeria has contained Ebola. He further assured the group that the Ministry will remain a formidable partner in ensuring that President Jonathan’s ideals on health care reforms are achieved.

The Minister urged Nigerians to borrow a leave from the group by supporting Mr. President’s laudable and people oriented programmes. He told them to ensure that come 2015 they mobilize Nigerians to support Mr. President‘s presidential bid. He however chided the group to be gender sensitive which is a trade-mark of the present administration by getting female representatives on their committee.

Speaking earlier, the National coordinator of the group, Mr. Patrick okpomu said they have been working with Nigerians in the Diaspora through the social media to further President Jonathan’s transformation Agenda on Health Care Reforms, treatment and control of Ebola, and prevent Ebola from causing further damage in Nigeria.

Mr.  Okpomu said they will work assiduously with the ministry to maintain the current momentum demonstrated by the president in sustaining economic and social stability in the country.
