A 34-year-old woman, Mrs Obianozie Anulika who uses one of the family planing options, said she takes a combination 3 family pills daily. The only challenge she has is remembering to take the pills daily and at the appropriate time. "Presently I have 3 kids but by the grace of God, I plan to have 2 more kids to make them 5. After having the number of kids I need, I plan to go for other family planning methods, may be the injection type that will last for 6, 3, or 2years . And I urge other young couples, to go into family planing, as it is the best way to avoid unwanted pregnancy."
Family planing,has the potential to help you manage your house hold in terms of finance, secure good and quality education for your children and keep your house hold healthy. But lack of awareness on family planning and various methods of contraception can be a problem as many women today continue to concieve as a result of mistake or maybe looking for a male or fernle child forgeting that every life is important and should be accurately planed for and taken care of.
Experts say family planning reduces the risk of unwanted pregnancy among women living with HIV, resulting to fewer infected babies and orphans as using male and female condoms provide dual protection against unintended pregnancies and against STIs including HIV.
Giving birth to so many chidren, should not only be based on the fact that there is enough money to train them in school, but you should also think of their psycological wellbeing. Ask yourself: if you will have enough time to advise, talk, play, and teach them the right morals to help them in future when they are left alone to face the world e.g marriage, profession and school e.t.c.
Because a child can become a bad or better person depending mostly on your contribution as parent. "As the saying goes, charity begins at home, so instead of having so many children, without resouces to manage all of them, it is advisable to go into family planning as it will not be a plus to you alone, but to the economy as a whole."
Couples should come together and decide on how many kids they want and will be able to take care of in every aspect, see a doctor, and seek advice on a method of contraception that will be best for them.
The World Health Organisation, WHO, says family planing, is a tool to slowing unsustainable population growth that has resulted to negative impact on the economy, enviroment, national and regional development efforts.
Accordimg to Dr Emmanuel Enabulele, family planning is the spacing of childbirth and then the control of the number of siblings in the interest of the mother healthwise and the siblings.
He explains, the various methods of contraception saying, Natural family planing: when you say natural family planing, the first option is very simple, which is abstinence, if you stay away from sex, you won't get pregnant so complete abstinence from sexual intercourse will not lead to conception.
He also disclosed that most women who are breastfeeding (nursing mothers), have been discovered not to mensturate, and some of them cannot concieve because of the high level of prolactine which is a hormone that produce equilatory gland of the brain. As long as there is high level of prolactin, in the blood, the woman is not likely to ovulate. Prolactin is a hormone that is increased in breastfeeding mothers or women that are lactating.
Naturally, a woman releases her eggs mid-cycle, a great majority of women normally have their menses every 28 days, about 6-7%, others may have it between 29-31 days and some may have it less than 28days, but any cycle that is less than 21 days is said to be abnormal. So based on the woman's menstural cycle, it can be determined.
Billings method : It has been noticed that their are certain changes in vaginal secretion during each phase of the cycle, certain times, it wil be completely dry, other times it will look like dry pap and especially, during ovulation, it will be slimy. So, based on those type of secretion for those who cannot keep date, they can use this type of vaginal secretion to know when they are ovulating, know when to have intercourse and when not to have.
He continued, if they cannot retsrain themselves at period of high fertility then the couple can practice what we call coitus interuptus.
Coitus interuptus : The man withdraws his penis from the partners vagina and ejaculates outside the vagina, keeping sperm out of the woman's body, and preventing fertilization. They need a lot of practice and discipline to do that, because it is almost at the time of optimum sexual activities, and you are asking the man to withdraw his reproductive organ.
Again, if you cannot practice coitus interuptus, he advised to use condom.
Condom (barrier method):
Condom for the male and for women cervical cap, most women are not used to cervical cap which is common with commercial sex workers.

He also added, there are other method recently that we call physical method, in which substances are put inside the woman, to directly interfere with the process of fertilization, and this things put there are known as intra eterile cortile, if it is put .
inside the woman, it interface with the process of fertilization and this method, is usually practiced by women who have given birth to atleast 4 children, its not for teenagers because it has a risk of inection.
He further exppains, the common one we use in this enviroment, is called copper-T, it is a ''T' shapped plastic device iserted into the uterus that steadly releases small amount of levonorgestrel each day, which helps to imobilize sperm, and if fertilization takes place, it helps to suppresses the growth of the living uterus ..
He added, we have contraceptive pills that is used among the youths, this pills are made of estrogen and progesteron combination, which prevent the release of egg from the ovaries.
Vasectomy : It is a permanent contraception to block or cut the vas deferens tubes that cany sperms from the testical, it keeps the sperm out of ejaculated semen. And women equivalent of this is known as Bailectral Tuballigatio (BTL), where you bring out the woman's falopian tube, and tie it up.
Monthly injection tablet : It contains estrogen and progesteron, it prevent the release of egg from the ovaries covulation.
He concluded that couples that are newly going into marriage, should be prepared and comfinn what marriage is about, by going for marriage course so that they will be thought on various family planing option.
