FCSC Dismisses 79 Officers, Indicts Fake Doctor

The source said the action was taken between 2014 till date, adding that one job was terminated while four persons were demoted to a lower rank.
 
The source however explained that 17 cases were handled and re-instated, two exonerated and salary of five restored within the period.
 
He said proactive steps are being taken on disciplinary cases in the commission, while citing the case of Martins Okpe, who was arrested for impersonating a medical doctor.
 
 
“When it got to the attention of the Civil Service Commission  that there was a fake doctor in the Ministry of Health, we stepped in invited the medical council to scrutinize his papers and immediately we confirmed he was an impostor, we wrote a letter to IGP to help us ensure he was brought to book,” he said.
 
He lauded the reforms implemented in the commission since 2012 which has entrenched merit, ICT-compliance, strict adherence to rules and the 10 core values of the civil service.
