President of the Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Isaac Olubanjo Akerele, has called on the FCT Administration to train all doctors in required skills to intervene on mass group of responders to traumatic injuries and disasters anytime.
Akerele, noted this at the 2015, Annual Health week organised by ARD, FCT recently with theme: “Management of Armed conflict injuries challenges of our time”, explained that this became necessary to stimulate their appetite towards the establishment of well motivated critical mass group to traumatic injuries.
He said as major stakeholders in FCT healthcare delivery; it is an opportunity to impress their demands on the government. ‘It is however charitable to plead that the mutual relationship enjoyed so far that produced results and approvals of our legitimate requests is sustained in the interest of industrial harmony’
Akerele, explained that the annual health week provided the doctors an opportunity to device and employ means of building capacity of members through scientific sessions and lecture series, community based free medical outreach services which are funded through members and other stakeholders.
“These we do, in pursuance of the association’s objectives of assisting government and the people in providing health care services, promoting members’ welfare and sustaining professionals ethics in practice of medicine “
